The Best Starting Point

What can I say, except that I’ve tried this both ways and I’ve learned that it works far better to rebuild my life with the starting point I’m about to suggest.

Over the years on my journey, I thought I had life figured out. You know, we all make those plans that might go something like this— finish high school, go to college, get a job, earn money, get married, set big goals, start a business, and be successful. But life happens. When traumas and losses come at you and you have no answers and nobody to help, you start rethinking your whole life and trying to make sense of it. You tend to look within and search for what’s missing or how or why that event happened. Too often there are no answers. The clear vision that we once had for our lives can become blurred or even totally obliterated!

I’ve had that experience. It left me wondering what happened and how to find my way back to the plan I thought I should pursue. There’s a season for everything, but we also need to figure out when that season is up. At times, it ends abruptly, like a screen door slamming shut on our noses. Other times, the door closes slowly but surely.

No matter how few or how many traumas and losses we have experienced, the best starting point I’ve found for rebuilding my life has been to make sure that God is part of my life.  Why? Because He created the world and I need His wisdom and help for my life.  How do I get His help? By believing in Him and Who He says He is in the Bible and by asking for His help.

God loves us so much that He sent His only Son (Jesus) to die and pay the penalty for our sins that “we” should have died to pay.  John 3:16 New King James Version (NKJV), says this, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Who does that? That’s pretty amazing that someone loves us that much!  It gives us the benefit of living with Him forever in heaven when we die, and the benefit of receiving His power, wisdom, and help while we’re here on earth. I need that! What about you?

I John 4:9, 10, 13 New Living Translation (NLT) says, 9 God has shown His love to us by sending His only Son into the world. God did this so we might have life through Christ. 10 This is love! It is not that we loved God but that He loved us. For God sent His Son to pay for our sins with His own blood. 13 He has given us His Spirit. This is how we live by His help and He lives in us.”

So all we do is simply believe in Jesus and ask Him to come into our hearts and lives, and then receive Him. His Holy Spirit (that raised Jesus from the dead) then actually will come to live in our hearts and never leave. He teaches us about His unconditional love as He walks with us through life. He helps us, guides us, and gives us wisdom, strength, and power to do all that He created us to do. What a gift!

Believing in Jesus is my best starting point suggestion for rebuilding your life. With His Holy Spirit as my foundation and anchor, He has been with me leading, guiding, teaching, strengthening me, and much more, through the storms that I’ve encountered in life.  The Holy Spirit has turned my messes around and has significantly changed me from the inside out. Am I a finished product yet? Not by a long shot! The Holy Spirit is always at work in us. We are all a work in progress until we as believers in Jesus go to heaven.

So, naturally, I want you to have the same life-changing experience with Jesus that I’ve had so you can truly rebuild your life on a solid foundation starting from the inside out.  He will be your unfailing strength during the good times and during life’s storms.
